boarkillerIn Andrew Holmbergs own words
" While hunting with inexperienced hunters, it was my firm desire to avoid the old time practice: get as close as possible and then 10 yards more. The practice became outdated after muzzle loading guns were replaced with modern rifles. I consider it big mistake to allow inexperienced hunters to get so close to DG that they become nervous. Furthermore, it makes no sense to force DG to attack in self defense, because it cannot run away. "
This is 60 years ago outlook of PH on hunting DG with clients

joesterThat is one neat quote. IMHO, adrenaline junkies should stick to fast cars & boats and not provoke dangerous & unnecessary animal charges...

Common sense in every sense of the word!

fairgameExperienced double rifle handlers like Todd who do want to get in close have pushed the boundaries of the hunt for it to become dangerous. He excepts this and it cool with it.
Most of the first timers I have hunted have spent quite a bit of time in close proximity to DG and have only been asked to shoot once they have calmed down and started to enjoy the experience.
Then again I have very little experience with elephant and these animals are in a difference class altogether.

boarkillerI thought it to be interesting observation and not a challenge to some
I'm pretty sure today's PHs deal with same challenges as PHs of yesteryears
