I saw that last year some time. I dont know the story behind it but I have my assumpions. I have hunted Lion and shot a Lion in Zimbabwe. From my experience the way the Lion acted with his reluctance to find cover when given more than a fair opportunity, and the fact that there is a fence 15 foot behind him I have always assumed that this was a "classic" South African canned Lion....??? Sorry if this seps on anyones toes.

I was not too impressed on the ability of the hunters but then I have never been hunting in Africa. I did notice the fence after you mentioning it.

Seeing the fence was a bit of a bummer, but it did manage to get my adrenaline pumping. Thanks for posting.

I first saw this video nearly two years ago. Besides the fence, notice the power line and the right-of-way in the background. There were 4 or 5 people in this fiasco not counting the camera man. Who is the woman. It is an absolute wonder that nobody was shot. I really wouldn't like for the "hunter" to have been mauled or killed, but this does not in any fashion look like fair chase sport hunting to me. That was a nice lion with a GREAT HEART, IMO this video gives true hunters a black eye.

This hunt was with an outfit that is no longer together. The PH is Randy Westraddt(spelling) from Blomfontein in the Orange Free State. Yes this is a poor excuse for any hunt. I had a Plains game hunt with this fellow a couple of months after this tape was made. Excellent judge of plains game but not so good on what a Lion hunt should be.

Somehow that lion does not look like the lions I saw on Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. That lion looks way out of shape.Kind of like my dog.It is not very able.I would say it finds it difficult to stand on it's four legs.It does not look like a lion that hunts for a living.I think a real lion would have ripped him apart very fast.

I had heard that this lion was a "family pet" that outlived its welcome. The family sold the right to "hunt" their pet. Hence, Lion is fat and lazy with no fear of humans.

Piss poor excuse for hunting

Not a hunt to be proud off. That is the problem with a canned hunt, a Lion that is used to people loses his fear for human beings and will attack.

But there is a lesson to be learned out of this tape. The shooter had more than enough time to take a second shot while the Lion was just getting up. All the shots that was fired when the Lion came for them went over the Lion. Nobody though of going down on his knees to be on the same level as the Lion. There was plenty of time to do it. After all there were 4 people shooting.

Again nothing to be proud of, this was a shooting incident and not a hunt

I think there's a goodish chance the Lion had also been doped..... look at the way he lands after jumpimg up at the hunter, then falls ass over tit and then recovers enough to bug out...
