wihntrFanny pack while hunting
Does anyone carry a fanny pack or day pack while hunting? (Like for camera, water, extra clothes, etc.)

CunninghamYes I do. I have always carried a smaller backpack from L.L.Bean that I got for my first safari in 1988 and just this year have switched to a larger Dakine brand pack with a resevoir for a Camelback. I have never been caught without what I needed. That was 7 trips ago. I highly recommend one so you will not have to rely on your PH for something that you might need.

Bryan ChickI carry a Tactical Tailors 3 day pack with a camellback. I carry my first aid kit, spare socks, Otis gun cleaning set, small basha, gps, ammo, camera, sat phone, compass, para cord, light sticks and anything else I may need. I carry the pack and my rifle all the time. I tell the ph that if we have to bomb burst for any reason, I have what I need to rtb

Russ GouldI use a Fieldline H20 Fanny Pack (camo) with flashlight, compass, cord, small knife, space blanket, water purification tabs, camera, ammo, orange tape, and first aid kit. This kit has 2 one liter water bottles...enough to survive a long hot day if you drink before you go out.

almostacowboyOne of our trackers always carried a back pack with water, etc. so, it wasn't necessary for me to carry one also. Plus, one of them nearly always insisted on carrying my rifle during the early stages (tracking) of the hunt.

kududeI have always had with me on my person a lighter, first aid items(bandaids, bactoban, tylenol, lomotil and decongestant in foil packs), eyewash, hand sanitizer, eyeglass repair "tube", bug dope, multitool, mossy net, small flashlight and toilet paper. I have carried these items in an old M16 magazine carrier for many years, and it is handy and provides most of what you might need in an emergency.
You'd be shocked how many ph's I have had to "doctor" over the years. And provide lights for various ph's and my son's cigarettes. I don't think I'd have gotten my leopard without Actifed with all the grass pollen in the blind.
I have shifted most of these items to my camelbak pack which is the best thing I've come across for hydration which has often been an issue on hunts. As I age, I am impacted more by dehydration. The camelbak is a wonderful invention. Just remember to refill it every morning with bottled water. Kudude
