ChrisTroskieSeason finishes off with another bang
We started this season with a buff hunt next to Kruger and JPJ3 took a beautiful old bull with tremendous bosses. (See
Buff hunt with Chris Troskie Safaris)
Well, it so happened that our last booked hunt for the season was also for Cape Buffalo and we are currently sharing camp with a wonderful client from Dallas TX on not only his first Buffalo hunt but also his first ever African safari.
Day before yesterday we found a herd of buffalo (about 70 strong) early in the morning. Unfortunately they spooked and ran off but not before we spotted the bull we wanted in the herd... We decided to persue them in the hope of getting an opportunity at the old bull and in the process spent the whole day on the tracks of the herd.
We got close to the herd on a few occasions but the big bull somehow managed to always keep other animals between us an him - never offering a shot.
Finally - just after 6pm (and as the sun was setting) - we caught up with the herd again and this time the bull gave us the chance we were waiting for...
The results are in the picture below...
Great bosses on this buff
One shot with a .375H&H brought an end to miles and miles of tracking...
Cheers,
Chris

ChrisTroskieThx JPJ, we're hunting in a new area I got hunting rights on - also next to Kruger - but further North from where we hunted your buff... It is in fact close to where we went Hot-Air ballooning with you and your lovely wife in April.
See you soon!
