nubeBuffalo
Which areas and outfitters are producing good Buffalo these days in Zim?
It seems like there has been some talk in the past of overpoached areas and also some areas that the lions have reduced the herd numbers down a lot.
Are some areas better than others or does it matter a whole lot.

zimFrostyThere are several good areas in Zim that are still producing extremely good quality trophy buffalo. The Save Conservancy has produced several Buff over the 45' mark this season and a couple over 46'.
In my opinion though, the spread and measurements does not a good buffalo make. I have seen some magnificent old worn down solid bulls full of character taken this season. It depends on each hunters personal requirements and preferences. I am sure Zim can produce a really memorable hunt for you

larryshoresI will second what ZimFrosty has to say. The SAVE has a tremendous number of buffalo. I hunted there in 2009 and 2010 taking a total of 4 buffalo, the widest being 46 1/2 which I shot in October.

MARK H. YOUNGnube,
If you book a buffalo hunt with a reputable Zim operator with a long track record of happy clients you'll be happy. If you book a hunt at some price far below the norm be aware that you may get what you pay for.
As for particular areas the Save Valley Conservancy is going to hard to beat.

nubeI would think that the plainsgame would be good in the Save as well. I am still thinking of leopard buffalo along with kudu, sable and bushbuck. It seems to me I may need to drop the Leopard. Either the outfitter wants to make it a 21 day hunt for something like this or is charging an arm and a leg to make it happen with poor results in the leopard department. Maybe I am expecting too much in a hunt and need to screw my head on right.lol Either way I have lots of time and I am just trying to get a feel for which areas I should be looking at to make this a dream come true hunt for me. Been saving my pennies for a long time now and I am starting to itch.

larryshoresIn the areas of the Save I have been in (ARDA, Hammond, mkwasine and another that I can't remember ) there is a lot of plains game but not all species. Sable and warthog for example are few and far between.
I have a professionally done video from my 09 hunt. I take lion , 3 buff and a ton of plains game. If you would like a copy PM me with your address and I will send you one .

MARK H. YOUNGnube,
You don't need 21 days for leopard, sable, buff, plainsgame. You can do it in 14-18 days and have at least a 75% chance on the leopard and nearly 100% on the others if you have the time to pursue everything. Prices in Zim are about $1,000-$1,300 pe day for this.
