What time of year to hunt PG in SA?
Hi everyone,

If you had to pick a month between March and October to hunt PG in South Africa, which month would you pick and why?

Thanks

I´ve hunted the Limpopo four times, twice in Febr and twice in March. All trips have been good but we have seen rain and had cold spells at times. This year I´ll be going in April.

I like it when the bush is green and the hunting is up close -the game is also in good shape earlier in the year.

I like August for the lesser green foliage, easier to spot game.

i've been there early as april and late as october and each has its advantages and disadvantages. In april/may foliage is heavier so spotting game can be difficult, but the game isn't as spooky as it is latter. In sept/oct the foliage is pretty well gone so its easy to spot game, but harder to get close to it. oct and late sept is going to be hot. i think june/july/august are the prime months. also the most hunted. Other advantages of going early/late is that you get before or after the prime airfare time and save some buck on tickets. all in all - pick when you can go, and then do it, you'll never get there if you don't

It's would be in the East Cape region.

Speaking from the Eastern Cape perspective, visibility in the drier mountains and plains is not an issue, but April to August is more pleasant because it is cooler.
