<Redbird>Beginner's luck Kudu !
Quick report on a unbelievable trip to Namibia with PH Pete Kibble of Trophy Safaris. Took a 60 2/8 inch Kudu. Picture available at www. anglersandhunters.com as are pictures of warthog Zebra and Oryx. Click on Namibia, and scroll down to bottom right of page for series of just added pictures. The old fart is me, the young guy is my son. Not pictured are a good buffalo from Zimbabwe, Gavin Rabinovitch as PH. Scored 161 on SCI. More later on trip reports. And, no I didn't bunge jump from Vic Falls.

<Redbird>GeorgeS, I'm with you all the way. Being lucky enough to pick a good PH, who also has a good concession, and just being in the right place at the right time was all out of my control. The only thing I can claim is a good shot. But, I been doing that all my life. When we were stalking seveal kudus the big one stepped out. The PH just put up the sticks and said over and over, "shoot that kudu." It was a long shot ( the PH claims 367 long steps) I ain't about to tell anyone it was that far. However, it was at least 250 yds. 300 Wby, handloaded 180 Nosler partitions made a 1 shot kill. Most was luck, luck, luck. Even on the buff, in fairly thick bush, out of a herd of at least 250 animals, when we stalked up close enough to shoot, you could only see about 6-8 animals. Luck positioned the good one for me.
Took me 64 years to get there. If it was not for "hemorrhaging money" I would book again tomorrow. Could not have scripted a better or more successful hunt.

Greg RI spoke with redbird on the return flight and it was great to see he and his son so excited. They took some really great trophies, but pop did have some exceptional luck. I tried to send you an e-mail when I returned but couldn't read your writing. I will write you later. Congratulations.

<Redbird>Terry C, thanks very much for posting the pictures. You must be great with" machinery."
Greg R., nobody writes very good on those 16 hour flights. Did you get into any of those discussions between the "photo safari" people and us hunters? I told them I had been on a photo safari, but just couldn't seem to get good picture of animals moving around. So, I had to arrange to pose them.

JohnTheGreekRedbird,
Those sure are some fantastic trophies! Really hope that you get back soon. My money is "hemmoraging" a bit too lately but I am still trying to scrape enough together for Zim in December.
Best Regards,
JohnTheGreek
