BwanamichOz,
that is a private hunting concession that belongs to the U.A.E. royal family. The concession is run by Otterlo Hunting company that was set-up for this purpose.
Quite a lot of controversy around the operation involving neighbouring Kenya!
Being an Open Area, as a tanzanian resident, one can hunt there. i'm hoping to plan a trip sometime early December. At the right time, the area is outstanding hunting country!

T.CarrThe UAE royal family has had Loliondo since 1992 or 1993. It's a bit of a controversial topic.
Saeed probably doesn't hunt there because he doesn't have his own C-130s to fly in his customized hunting cars.

Terry

From my understanding it is the Royal Family from the OTHER UAE emirate the (Abu Dabies) that had the concencession under the guise of (The Ortello Business Company)
OBC ( APPARANTLY) is OR was initially owned by Brigadier Mohamed Abdul Rahim Al Ali, deputy minister of defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ... who knows the case at this moment in time as companies can change and so can partners of directors !!
Their tenure may in fact be up for renewal about now according to some report I saw recently //
So essentially it is ABSOLUTELY nothing at all to do with Dubai Royal family, BUT with the Abu Dabies
There is a lot of good information on the saga within the African Indaba Newletter publication archieves that we post on AR from time to time // it has good Africa information in it and all interested parties need to or should read these publications from time to time especially if they want to keep up with africa hunting and wildlife conservation
Intreging this hunting in Africa

BwanamichLoliondo IS being hunted by the U.A.E. Royal Family.....as well as other dignitaries from the gulf states. The Abu Dhabi Royal Family are trying to get their own hunting block around Lake Eyasi.
They will not loose that concession. Re-allocation of concessions will take place in 2009. It was re-allocated to them in 2005 for another 5 year term.

Thanks for the update ?
I guess the dollars talk Tanzanian better than I talk English (-:
Oh well, it seems that us peaseants ( like me) will have to stick with South Africa and Zambia for the future as those guys are in a league of their own ( DAMMIT ) I knew I should have saved my money when I was young, instead of spending it on (wine women and song) and wasted the rest
