Bobby B.Tilley hats for Namibia in March
The Tilley has been recommended as an excellent hat, offering great protection from the hot March sun.
I'll be hunting the Gras Ranch south of Windhoek and can't decide between the Tilley LTM6 in grey (quite dark) or the LTM8 which comes only in one color, khaki with a greenish tint. The advantage of the LTM8 is the large amount of mesh used in its contruction. Therefore, I assume it would be cooler than the LTM6.
Unfortunately, my limited computor skills prevent me from inserting a link or photo of the two hats.
Any comments would be appreciated. Maybe I'm sweating the small stuff, it's my first trip and I have no experience to draw on.

muygrandeI wore the LTM8 Tilley in Zim this past June and it was fine. Temps were only into the low 80's however.

jetdrvrI've had a Tilly for 30 years, but it's white, so I don't wear it hunting. I wear a surplus boonie hat. Don't sweat the small stuff. Buy the cooler hat and don't worry about it. It ain't no big deal.

jwmTilleys are great outdoor hats. Buy one that sits fairly loosely on your head, you can always tighten the fit on windy days by using the chin/neck straps. I would also get one of the cotton ones, NOT nylon. You can dunk them or soak them with water, which keeps you cooler as it evaporates.

scruffyIn Angola in March I often soaked my Tilly in the ocean and stuck it on the ol' noggin .. Excellent .. (Actually I hate the looks of the damn things but it sure helped me on my shark fishing expedition)
