Caliber question?
Is there a minimum caliber required for for instance buffalo and lion in Africa. And what is that caliber ? Does the requirements vary from country to country ?
Why I ask this is because Sako with their new model 85 do not make a .375 HH anymore, their largest caliber will be 9,3x66 Sako and 9,3x62.
Does it exist any list or site for the different countries about caliber requirements ?
Thankful for all help you can give me.

Zim's legal minimums are
9,3x62 for Buff, ele and Hippo
7mm Rem Mag for Lion, Eland and Girrafe
7x57 for leopard, kudu zebra et al

Have used a 9,3 in Botswana and Moz.

Would NEVER hunt a lion with a 7mm mag Wink

Thanks 500- eland/elephants- both megaherbivores

Ganyana, there may be a typo in your last post as it list ele as one of the species to which the 7mm rem mag minimum applies. Confused

the only place that you cannot use a 9.3 is KwaZulu Natal in SA. All other provices in SA, as well as Namibia and Zim allows minimum of 9.3x62mm

The 9.3s (9.3-62, 64,66,74R) are legal in Burkina, Benin, Cameroon and the CAR.
May be one can use smaller calibres (i.e. 300Wby)..........but in all these countries there is buff on the menu as well as not that desired stroppy elephants.
