Good luck Big BBEAR
Larry is checked in and on his way to hunt Ndlovu about now in Bots. Bring home a big tusker buddy. Good hunting and safe trip.

Thanks Mike. I am at JFK right now waiting to board SAA to Joburg then on to Botswana. Cross your fingers for a big one. Will let you know what happens as soon as done. Thanks for your well wishes.

I am in a dilema now. I arrived yesterday with no luggage and no guns. SAA and JFK win again. Today they do not even know if my luggage is on the next flight or not. I have postponed my flight to camp by one day to hope it arrives today. If not, I will probably move on and borrow a rifle. I have enough gear to get me by. Concern is having SAA clear my gun and then forward to Kasane, Botswana. Anyone have this kind of ugly experince and can advise me.

Thanks,

Larry

That sucks Larry. Sorry to hear it.

Don't burn too much valuable elephant time on this... Borrow a gun and focus on the elephant. I'm sure the gun is insured and the luggage can be worked out long after the ivory has been cut out!

Good luck.

This past March my rifles were lost by SAA in Joberg although they were just supposed to be put on a plane to Bulawayo. They couldn't find them for several days and finally found them in the police storage locker at Joberg airport. No one knew why they were in that locker as it was only to be used for storing their full auto weapons for airport security.

Back now after very frustrating trip regarding luggage. Not sure if I even want to tell the story as I prefer to forget it. AWA for sure.

As to elephant, I saw many bulls each day in 40-55 pound class and some bigger one tuskers. Shot a bull on day 7 that has large tusk at 70in total x 17+ at the lip and the shorter is 59in total x 17+ at the lip. Larger tusk should come in near 60 if not a few pounds off. Got some great video I will try to put together.

BB,

Congrats! Sorry to hear of the luggage debacle. Had my guns arrive one day late in JNB on the way to Zim last time. Terrible feeling.

Great to hunt ele though and a 60 pounder WOW!
