makiZim/Moz taxidermy?
I realise this should be on another forum, but time is a bit tight and I figure more eyes will see it here. I find myself leaving on the 12th for an unexpected pg hunt in Moz with Zim based Mokore Safaris. A short hunt with limited objectives (eland, pigs and whatever else seems like a good idea at the time). For one reason or another, I'd prefer to get the euro mounts and a flatskin or two done in Africa. Having never been to either Moz or Zim, I have no idea if there is even a good local option. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dean

GraftonMost likely your trophies will be exported from Maputo Moz to Joberg SA, not through Zim. You could have the work done in South Africa if you choose. I know of no established/reliable taxidermy outfit in Moz at this time.
You will love Moz. Beautiful area and Mokore is a great outfit.
Have fun!

ozhunterZim and SA Taxidermists do a wonderful job with Euro mounts on nice looking hardwood frames.

jeff hWorst taxidermy I have is from Zim.
They don't even have enought to eat what makes you think they can get supplies to do quality taxidermy?
Ship it home

bwanamrmJeff,
I agree if you are going for shoulder or lifesize mounts, however; I find most of the euromounts in the African countries to be as good as or superior to American taxidermists... no offense guys.

OldHandgunHunterI always have my taxidermy work done in South Africa, even when I hunt elsewhere. Basically, I do this; 1. because I know I will get high quality work in South Africa; and 2. Most importantly, I know that the paperwork will be handled properly and my trophies won't be lost to confiscation or hung up forever in transit until they self-destruct.
My usual routine is to use Mochaba for in-Africa transit of the trophies; Life-Form for the taxidermy work; and Safari Air Cargo to transport the trophies into the U.S. to customs. In the U.S. I use Flora & Fauna for the customs work and transit to my home.
These folks know how to get everything done with minimal worry on my part -- but I've often seen them jumping through endless hoops over the years with Leopards from Moz; Elephants from anywhere, etc. and I've always been pleased with my decision to let them do all the work. If I had tried doing it myself, I would have lost trophies, no doubt about it.
