Well, I did it. Picked up my brand-new M70 .375 H&H. I hadn't planned on looking for one for a few years, there not being any dangerous game hunts planned for the next few years. However, when I heard the news about Winchester I ordered one the same day, because some day I will hunt DG. Not as neat-o as a Krieghoff or anything like that, but I'm still pretty excited (otherwise you wouldn't be reading this!)

Rich Elliottwihntr,
Getting it ahead of time will just give you more time to enjoy it and get used to it.
Good move.

Congratulations on your new 375. You do not have to wait to hunt DG to use it. If you reload try some 235 Speers loaded over 60 to 64 grains of IMR 3031 for a great deer, wild pig load.
If you do not yet reload the Federal 250 Trophy Bonded Bearclaw is about a three-fourths power load and would even be my choice on black bear.

SeanZCongrats on the new rifle. I have one I bought about this time last year. I haven't hunted any DG with it yet, but this summer it will make a trip to Namibia for plains game.
Best regards...Sean

Jorge400Ditto here wihntr. Being a left handed shooter, I especially thought it wise to do the same and was lucky enough to find one new in the box at a not too awful price. Now I just need too pull the trigger on booking my next African safari.

formerflyerApparently it’s an epidemic. I picked up a NIB M-70 Stainless in .375 H&H just last week. I guess one way to sell out the current stock is to announce that you’re going to cease production. I hope they come back at some point.

I envy you! ( I'm retired as a shooter and hunter nowadays but I remember the thrill of a new rifle/shotgun/pistol)
For what it's worth to you, I fired a 375 H&H over 1500 times or more before I ever saw Africa on my one and only trip (for buff) I always used the full 300 gr. load.I was totally comfortable with the caliber and my rifle and I think I can promise you that you will be too. (MY PH told me that the biggest faults of clients was that they did not "set up" fast enough on plains game and on DG were carrying rifles they were scared of. He meant that they were trying to shoot calibers that they had never practiced with. I think (if you don't already know) that you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy the 375 H&H, with full loads, is to handle. I wish you a good future with it!

WandererI bought my .375 this year as well. I wonder if that Federal 250 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw would work for most plains game, and Leopard?
Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it's supposed to do.

ELKampMasterYou're gonna love it!
I've got an M-70 in 375 H&H and it is one of my favorites! It is a timeless classic for good reason!
