Hi Harry,
one of my fondest memories is having a few beers with your good self at Rileys. It was a great privilege, I sure learnt an awful lot in that short time.

I eagerly await any posts you may make here in the future.

You will no doubt have "forgotten" more about Africa and hunting than all of us here will collectively ever know.

I am sure we all look forward to you sharing a small part of your wealth of knowledge on this forum.

Hope the knee is feeling better.

Cheers. beer

It's an honor to share an "internet campfire" with you, sir - computers can be wonderful things!

I really enjoyed the reminiscences you recently published about Robert Ruark, and in particular your foreword to Alan Ritchie's recent Ruark biography.

All the best!

RIP
Sir Harry Selby,
You are without a doubt the most distinguished member ever, of these forums.
I did not think it possible to improve the quality of this site, but you just did it.
I missed you on my first pass through Maun. I stopped by Riley's and you were not there. CRYBABY
Of course it is reassuring that you are not sitting on a barstool and drinking beer continuously. thumb
Please get those memoirs in print, and get an audio CD for us to hear some stories in your voice, even if you have to get Gail to "pen" you down.

Best Regards,
Ron Berry

After researching several rifle calibers for Cape Buffalo, I decided on a 416 Rigby. This was because of the great flexibility and the historical past of the rifle that you helped create.

The rifle should be done in the beginning of 2010 and hope to use it during the 2010 hunting season. Thanks again for being a historical part of this great adventure that I hope to soon partake in.

Mr. Selby,
I had the pleasure of hunting in Botswana May 22 through June 2 with Clive Eaton's Tholo Safaris. I had a great time. The last night I was in country I stayed at Tree Lodge in Maun and talked about the old days with Douglas Wright who I believe is a contemporary of yours. I have read much about your influence on African hunting which was a large part of my decision to hunt in Africa. It is with great admiration and respect that I add my welcome to you!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Welcome sir,

Reading of your adventures through Ruark's writing is a huge part of the reason that I have hunted Africa. And yearn to do more of it year after year. I've truly enjoyed reading and re reading your stories.

Please keep them coming.
