Rifle sling

Can somebody please recommend a good rifle sling that would allow for the rifle to be carried across the back rather than on the shoulder?
I am thinking I would prefer to have both my hands free when hiking on difficult terrain,Thanks.

I will look tonight. I have one but have never used one that a buddy gave me. I have a few friends who swear by these rubber slings. I just hate to ever have a sling on my rifle so I never use them. I always see the guy at the dallas and SCI shows. it is a stable and neat product if you like slings. Ugly but they work.

In canvas web type I use the ones sold by Trader Keith.

For leather I like Dick Murray's slings.

Having said that, I never use the sling on my double. And yes I do wear the bluing off the barrels, but we always seem to be in thick places.

I do not use slings either on my DR's,& yes the bluing does get worn,I am getting ready for an upcoming hunt,I want to have one handy just in case of rough terrain,thanks.

The Wyoming Split Sling may be what you are looking for. Don't know if they are still made or not but you can wear the rifle in the center of your back, the sling splits to go over both shoulders.

I've been using the Vero Vellini sling and really like it here in the mountains. Have also used the Trader Keith's canvas sling with the rubber underneath just for double rifle fun.

Get a Murray leather sling -- buy the long one, not the standard. It will meet and exceed your needs.

I recommend "Butler Creek". A fantastic rifle sling. Once you use one, you will never use any other sling.

hell, any sling if it is long enough allows you to sling it over your opposite shoulder and carry the rifle hands free.

People say I'm 'strange' in a lot of ways.
But, after seeing a bull elk thru the scrub and starting to sneak up to get a shot and catching that damned sling on a snag dumping my ass I'll never have another sling on any rifle. Don't even have the attachments except to use a bipod on the forearm.

To each his own though as they say.

Yes, my rifles are seldom less than 10-12# and my arms play out. I've said they're this long because of carrying my heavier rifles by hand until my knuckles drag on the ground, then change hands.

I like the Westley Richards sling. You set it to the length you like and tie it. It's always exactly right and never slips.
