Info/Advice Request
So this evening the wife and I were talking and she brought up an "idea" for a unique family trip that our son would remember.
Want to know if it's possible to line a trip up that involves hunting say 1/2 specie
s in each camp located in Tanz/Bots/Zam. We are thinking 4 days in each location with a focus on strictly enjoying the location and scenery. A day of hunting at each is just a added bonus...

Like I said, not sure if anyone has done such a trip or if it's even possible but wanted to ask the group for their opinion.

Thank you guys in advance.

Interesting idea! Most of the countries you mention are normally 10 day safari areas, but you could probably do something in Namibia, South Africa and Zim...maybe ending up at Victoria Falls. Namibia and RSA are mostly very nice game ranches, or conservancies, where a 2-4 day hunt for a few species would be possible. VISAs are not required for any of these countries, simplifying preparation and scheduling. A good booking agent could probably arrange it, with Steve from Travel with guns taking care of the flights and gun paperwork.

Thanks for the reply Biebs. I have to believe there is some kind of hunting available on daily rates in them 3 locations, even if its for birds...Have to hunt if I'm there.

Thanks again

I've considered doing this on more than one occasion. The big problems are two: licensing and logistics.

Many countries have stringent quotas and licensing systems, and the cost is excessive if you only stay for three to four days.

As for logistics, the international flights and the charters or drives into the hunting areas consume so much time that you end up spending more time in airports, planes, and cars than you do in the African bush.

That said, if you are not turned off by either of the above, it can be done. However, such a hunt might be better suited to South Africa, Zim, and Bots, with a plan to visit a game ranch in each country.

In the alternative, a multi area hunt in one country can offer an equal amount of diversity without the international travel days to interrupt the safari.

Great idea! My wife & I split a safari between Zim & Moz last summer, great time plus we saw varied geography/species. This year we will be hunting several unfenced regions in RSA. As suggested, using a booking agent may be most prudent, perhaps try Aaron Nielsen or Wes Hixon, both can be searched on this site. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies folks. Did some homework and came to the conclussion that the trip could include Bots and Zim. Now I'm searching for good tented camps in both areas. Thanks again

Don't rule out Zambia!

In short, yes, it can be done, but it will not come cheap. Zim/Bots/Zambia/Namibia/Moz (take your pick) can be done.

I guess it also depends on what you want to shoot. A Kudu hunt isn't as pricey as DG. It's not really a practical plan with only 4 days in each location, but, it can be done. Transfer costs will likely eat you up if you are in remote areas though.

I am undertaking safaris in both the Luangwa and Kafue this year. Also looking to hunt the Kafue Flats for Kafue Lechwe.

3 amazing areas in one safari.
