Steve MalinverniJust for curiosity
Reading yesterday an Italian magazine "Cacciare a palla" or "Rifle hunting" I found thereview of the 798 Remington built by Zastava.
In this DG/CF rifle lovers forum I never heard anything about this Remington Model.
Any comment on it?

Charles_HelmIt has been cussed, discussed, and reviewed on the Big Bore and I think Medium Bore boards, maybe Gunsmithing too. Search "798" and see if you find the threads.

oupaJust for curiosity, what did Cacciare a palla think of it?

MacD37Steve, Charles is correct, the 798 has been discussed here before, and the reviews were mixed!
IMO, the 798 Remington is a rough example of the use of the Zestava action at best. To cut cost the action was left pretty rough, and the stock's bedding, and wood quality are not good, but are servicable. I think as the rifle comes out of the green box, it is a CRF action, and that is a plus. It is strong, and that is a plus. The rifle is cheap enough that it is a worthwhile start to build into a quality rifle, but it seems that those who buy these seem to want a bargain basement rifle to compete with a rifle that costs three or four times as much, and you and I both know that is not going to happen. This rifle is about the only way you can get a "NEW" Zestava action, and so is the only way to build a good rifle on that action, but it will take a little work, and money. I have two Whitworth African express rifle with this action, and the effort expended to make the 798 into a good rifle is worth it to me!
