Colt .223 Rem. 62 Grain FMJ Zinc-plated steel case Ammo
I picked up some of the Colt zinc-plated ammo at a good price but my COLT AR doesn't like it. The gun and magazines have handled everything else to date but I get too many double fed rounds when I use the zinc-plated ammo.

Anyone else encounter this? I'm at a loss to explain this.

Do you mean two rounds coming out of the magazine at the same time?

Yes, two rounds stripped from the mag and jammed into the chamber. It's odd that it only happens with the zinc plated stuff

I am guessing the zinc plateing is causing too much fiction between the top and bottom round stripping the bottom round also.

It would be interesting what it would do if one lubed the rounds a bit.

I would not shoot the lubed ones as that could cause high pressures

I'll have to try that out.
