Probably the worst POS trigger ever used on a firearm in the history of mankind.
You are not alone in that line of thinking...
However, I have used H&K rifles quite a bit, a 91, and a 33K as work guns, and shot them a lot.
I have also done a fair amount of hunting with a H&K 91. An even though I have a PSG1 trigger unit, I most always use the standard trigger.
I "work" it kinda like a DA revolver trigger, and I have never had any problems with it.
The H&K's are some of my most favorite rifles.
I killed a bear with a G3 clone. It was meh. Flattened the bear though. Never could get used to the trigger.

TonyRumoreI had a 91 in the late 80's. Ross Seyfried wrote all about how great the 91 was for hunting, so I bought one. The trigger was complete junk and accuracy was crap. That was with an original HK claw mount and Leupold 12x target scope in place.
The trigger is fine for a machine gun, but a 91 isn't an MG.

N E 450 No2Accuracy on the many H&K rifles I have shot, 91's, G3's G3SG1's PSG1's, 93's 33k's, 53's, has been very good.
I have found the H&K claw mounts to back to zero 100%.
I have one 91 I zeroed in 1977, that I have never had to change the knobs on the scope, so far anyway.

ron williamsI shot one of Ne450no2s HK91s, it took me about 5 rounds to get used to the trigger, and then I was clanging steel at 500 yards. I think too much is made of having a light trigger, proper form and repeated, practise are much more important.

SmokinJOne of my best friends has an early 91 when they had the normal 4 groove rifling. The accuracy was exceptional. That was with the iron sights too. He had thought about selling it and I told him he was crazy to sell a rifle that shot like that. He kept it.

I have used a 223 and a 308, both with good results.
However,
If you do not know, or have not seen, the difference between people and "things", hit with a 223 vs a 308, then nothing I say here would make sense to you.
No offense intended.

sam308I asked myself the M1A or AR-10 question for a long time. Here is the best answer I could come up with:
Really, if you are not sure get 1 of each. The 2 rifles are a totally different experience. They are truly apples and oranges.

N E 450 No2I have shot a fair amount with the M1-A, the FN-Fal, and the AR type 308's.
They are all good rifles.
Still IF I could have ONLY ONE it would be the H&K 91.
