5,7x28mm In an AR-15?
I have been offered a complete AR57 upper with a ton of brass and dies, etc. Anyone here had any experience with one?

ME is said to be between 22mag RF and 22 Hornet. I do like that 50 round magazine sitting atop their upper, and the notion that it dumps empties out the mag well. Guy sticks a 20 rd magazine with the follower and spring removed to catch the empties.

Thoughts...

Rich,
The designers are friends of mine.

I have shot it on semi and full auto lowers,

works like a charm.

Ammo is a tad bit pricey, unless you reload.

Sounds like you'll be reloading.

HA! The only factory ammunition I can afford says 22 long rifle on the box. I went on the AR57 website, and looked at the 62gr penetrator loading data.

These things just look cooler than a box full of day old border collie puppies...

I have one, but I haven't had it long and am still trying to get it the way I want it. If you look around you can find FNH factory ammo for about 40 cents a round, thats the 40 grain Hornady V-MAX bullet, the cheapest and also groups the best for me. The downward ejection is really nice, you can remove the guts from an old AR mag and use it to catch the brass. One thing I am still orking on, since the magazine swings down in front of the receiver, you can't have a scope sticking out much in front. An ACOG sight works great, I just don't want to pay for a Trijicon, a red dot type sight would be fine, I am using a low power scope that beoing mounted high enough I can swing the mag in under it and with it holding 50 rounds, I don't have to change it very often!

Rich, that's too cool. I've shot the FN carbine. You can spot your own shots throught the scope on it. Hardly any recoil to speak of.

A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

I'm not interested in owning one but the idea is ingenious. I'll be all eyes when one turns up at my club's range.
Thanks for bringing it up.

It does get a lot of "whats THAT?" at the range and its really nice to dump all the brass out of the "magazine", that really confuses people. I got mine for varmints in populated areas, less noise than the 5.56 and more oomff than the .22rm also reloadable.
