Rick RSIG 556?
Anyone had a chance to play with one of these?
Just looking for the good, the bad and the ugly.

OddbodThe handguards fail to to justice to the rifle & replacing them with Sig 551 items transforms the feel & perceived balance far more than you would think possible.
Apart from that, I had no stoppages whatsoever with a mixture of whatever ammunition I was given at the time & using the mounted ACOG I could hit often enough out to 400yds with my withered eyeballs.

PeterThere are plenty of reviews of these rifles out there. They have been available for a while. I have one. It is heavy, but functions as advertised! I put a scope on mine (Millett, illuminated reticule). One of the first (if not THE first) of the piston rifles.
Peter.

butchloci've had one for a bit. no problems with it at all. folding stock makes it a near perfect truck gun. avg around 1"-1.5"/100 with a good scope. heavy, big foreend, avg trigger, as with most of my ar's it seems to like the 60-63 gr bullets best

Rick RWe had a vendor offer to sell these at the same price as a 16" AR15. I don't think he can meet the same price point.
I'm interested in real world experience with them and more likely to trust the opinions of folks on AR instead of some of the TactiKewl web sites.
Thanks for the info

Cane RatI've had one for a couple of years. It's accurate and dependable. My only complaints are the placement of the safety makes it hard for me to work it with my thumb while gripping the gun, my ARs are no problem in this regard, and it is a bit heavy compared to an AR. Overall a very nice rifle rifle but I have to say that I prefer my Colt 6920 for the reasons I just mentioned, I also think my ARs are a bit more accurate.

butchlocone other thing i really like is the charging handle on the side of the bolt rather than behind. i too doubt tha tany vendor can match prices, sounds like somebody that doesn't have them to sell

SmokinJBy the way Sig is going to release a new semi auto rifle. It was at the Shot Show. It's a 7.62x39 and they said it has an AK type bolt and it takes AK magazines.
Sig makes a decent rifle but their price always seemed high, but I've heard they have lowered their prices.
Might be worth while to check out the new rifle. The 5.56 would be better for accuracy and varmint hungint, the 7.62x39 for plinking, protection, maybe even deer hunting.

Prices have come way down. I have seen 556 Classics for $1K on Gunbroker. I paid waaaaaayyyyy too much for mine at the height of the Great Obama Panic a couple of years ago.

Same type of results for me....WAY TO HEAVY IMHO. For the weight i would have thought I had a AR-10 HBAR in my hands.
