p dog shooterThey are small and light. Close up they are fast.
I don't like the fact like most dot optics that they have no magnification.
Hitting smaller targets out past 100 yards is harder because of it. Even closer if you don't have good eyes.
Having tried a lot of differant optics my rifles carry variable scopes in the 1.5x5 and 3x9s

tiggertateI've seen some really long shots with dot sights on 223s. 250-300 yd hits on prairie dogs. Like everything else, it's about target aquisition more than aiming difficulty.
If you can't see that well at distance, you put a tip-off 4x magnifier behind the sight.
