GrumulkinBUIS
What BUIS would you recommend for a RRA 223 Remington flat top upper. I want an all metal one and not plastic.

perryI have several different makes, all steel. For a buis I bought more for size/bulk and weight because they do the exact same thing with the exact same sight picture.
Are you planning on putting a scope with magnification on this rifle or a 1x red dot? On my AR's with magnification I leave the buis down, out of the way but on the Aimpoint mounted rifles I leave them up in the "1/3 co-witness" position. the idea is that if you are using the rifle for defensive purposes and the red dot goes down all you have to do is lower your line of sight and you are back on target.
A company out of Calif. called Centurion Arms makes a set of diopter sights that I really like. they are very robust. I have a set on my main battle rifle and love them. their web site is

GrumulkinIt will have a scope on it in QD rings. I wanted the BUIS to fall back on if I had scope problems. It would be nice if the BUIS could be easily attached and removed with my fingers.

perryGrum.
I have a GG&G flip up on my AR with a scope and really like it. When it is down it is completely out of the way. I dont think anyone makes a qd buis due to the fact that the qd mechanism id too bulky and one that just bolts on is pretty compact.

Rick RI know you prefer steel to plastic, but the Magpul unit is quick and positive. If I didn't already have BUIS on my rifles I'd get the Magpul.
( I may order one anyway

I would be very cautious of buying this brand of sight off e-bay at a discount price NIB because there is a good chance they are stolen from the US gov.

Charles_HelmI have the flip-ups Wilson uses and they do not seem to get in the way. I suppose it would be a problem if you did not have rail room for both the BUIS and your optic.

Larue Tactical. Arguably the best rear BUIS out there.
