I want a 308 AR

What about these new Remingtons in 308? Are they the same as the AR 10, interchangable parts, etc.?

Also, I see lots of the FN AR rifles for sale. Is there a good reason they are available, and most everything else is scarce? Is it a case where the good stuff has been picked over, and that's whats left, or are they good rifles?

Thanks for the info on the JP rifles. They look great. They ought to be super, considering the price.

Again, what's up with the FN AR, and half the price? It looks more like a sporting rifle too, rather than something out of star wars.

I have one in 243, shoots pretty well but a terrible trigger (since replaced). It's the same as the DPMS version of the AR-10. If you want magazines in a year order them today

Although I don't really care for this style of rifle, were I to get one, it would be in 308. I've not heard anything but praise for Rock River. Is their availability any better than anyone else's right now?

Whatever you get in a .308 AR, make sure that magazines are available, reliable, and inexpensive.

And, as in the AR-15 platforms....the barrel is the key to an accurate gun.

No such animal... Remington isn't even going to offer R-25 mags and referred me to DPMS. DPMS is estimating lead times at 8 - 12 months. I see some of gunbroker, but that's not the best choice. Best of luck.

There's only 2 AR-10 type rifles I'd buy - Armalite and DPMS. I believe JP is based on the Armalite and Remington is the DPMS.

With the Armalite, you can use modified M-14 mags.

DPMS uses expensive proprietary mags, great gun though, has a forward assist.

Rock River is a good gun, as is the Armalite ,have owned both in the past.

I hear rumors that Sig has a .308 lookalike to its superb 556 coming out soon, hope they are true.

Not on the LAR8. You can find some floating around the net, but they are usually at 2x the list price or more.

If you do not mind waiting a year, you can order one.

I found a NIB LAR8 in Missouri about 3 months ago. I bought it. It is a great gun.
