Woofer,
Good eyes there. Yes the wheels are on a 'Wing.
1980 vintage GL1100 that currently has 79k on the odometer. I have taken journeys of over 3000 miles and been ready to set right back out on the road on that bike. That bike was the grand prize bike for the 1980 Wing Ding..."best of show" would be another way to read that. Very nice and I am proud of it,and yes I have already made plans for new rubber..I have heard "Avon" is a good brand to look into but may just stay with the Dunlops.

I believe the forend is a replacement as it is not condusive to the SRC....whats the bore like? From, the photo it has been refinished and is it gumwood or walnut, hard to say from a photo but it appears to be walnut...

Ray,
I really believe you need "the rest of the story" to judge the authenticity of the '94.
From the previous owner;
"This friend of mine that teaches up in the NW Territories had opportunity to pass from village to village about twenty years ago. He visited about 30 different areas pausing to check out the various guns available, putting emphasis on lever guns. When he returned he had the 25-35 and 2 30-30's from the same era,he sold off the 30's and kept this rifle in his closet on the top shelf. About 6 months ago he asked if I wanted it and of course accepted. The rifle has no particular appeal to me and you may as well have it"

He asked me what the value might be and I offered a cursory opinion of mid 500's to 700.
He then said "well if you want it you can have it for $250.00,just send me a check. I of course accepted his good turn as well and have checked the bore, which is very bright and crisp. The refinished look I believe is due the climate it spent it's youth in and I think the forend is original as well. The fit is flawless and all of the metal "staining" matches the wood contours.
ser # 7696XX ,there is minimal blueing or CC left but it certainly would not be a viable "fake" or even pass as a "poor" resortation. I am very pleased to have it and plan to keep it as long as I am around. 45nut

45 Nut,
Just my assesment of the gun as a collector of Winchesters off and on over the years, and I believe it to be a correct assesment, and was submitted to you in a helpfull, not condemning manner...

The main thing is that your happy and satisfied with the gun, so it makes little difference...

45nut,

Nice gun and at that price, it's a great gun.. Have you shot it yet?

Atkinson,

I can't say anything about the forend but I was wondering if you knew if they put rifle sights on SRCs of that era. I have a few dating to 1908 and they all have the standard carbine sight.

Shouldn't a SRC of that vintage have a ladder type rear sight? I thought they used them into the '30's(pre war)

Ray, I knew I would find your tracks here on this 25/35 post. [Big Grin] If I ever want to catch you, I'm going to bait my trap with an old 25/35.

I know you've got a real "sweet tooth" for this cartridge. If I had one, I'd give it to you cause I know you would give it a good home. [Smile]

Gents,
That is a replacement rear sight on the '94. It wears a Marbles now...It has apparently been there for a long while and i have no intentions of replacing it. The rifle does shoot well [Wink] 45nut
