The series 70 doesn't have: the trigger bar lever, the firing pin lock plunger, the firing pin lock plunger spring nor the firing pin plunger lever. That is, if my memory is correct. Most gunsmiths will tell you that it is easier to refine the trigger pull on a Series 70 because it doesn't have these "safety enhancing" parts. I don't know what the value is.

It depends. How cherry is it? How much are you willing to pay? I've seen them go for $1000 to $1400 depending on condition. How much do you want it? Like I said, it all depends. Slightly older Colts are starting to command premium prices nowadays. If you are really into Colts, first and second Single Actions are the way to go as you'll never lose any money if you decide to sell any in a pinch.

Any suggestions on care and feeding? I've been told that the springs aren't as heavy as in the Government models and clones so a diet of full-power ammunition is detrimental. Is this accurate?
