Kongberg Rifle
Anybody have any knowledge of a Kongsberg 393 Rifle made in Norway...imported by Lew Horton in the mid
90's? All I could find was a 2 page article in
a '95 American Rifleman Mag. so don't quote from there.
Thanks,

Neat gun, I would love to have one in something interesting.

They made them in 358 Norma and other interesting rifle cartridges like the 45 Blaser.

I recall they had a rather unique magazine follower/spring arrangement. I don't think they were ever imported in very large numbers. I've seen a 30-06, a 300 Win Mag, and a smaller caliber that I can't recall (22-250). I seem to recall that it had a large black bolt knob.

They also came in 6.5 x 55

They are still made, I am not sure what the new name is. I don't remember what company bought them out.

Kongsberg Small Arms is making them , and they are great rifles, accurate and finely made.

Same factory made the Krag Jorgensen rifles so its a fine rifle they have .

I thought about getting a Kongsberg 393 Lakelander, but with the new guns laws here, i must probably forget it .

Al lstandard rounds like 22-250. 308, 6,5x55, 30-06 , 9,3x62 7x64,

Magnum 7mm Rem Mag, 300 wn Mag, 358 Norma,

tracker version, 308, 9,3x62

Plus Deluxe Classic edition also.

We had a great gunwriter, hunting writer here named Svein Solli that used one in 7x64 for years and swore by them,. he had made the prototype for a classic stock for himself and the company serie produced it. he used the 7x64 on many game and different places, loaded it usually with 160-175 Nosler Partion and a Zeiss 3-9x36.

Now with the new gun laws i must get a systemrifle , like a Sauer ort Blaser , etc to have legal amount of rifles. One barrel in 6,5x55 one in 7x64 and one in 9,3x62 .

Lakelander
The Kongsberg 393 is a very well made rifle and quite accurate. I have one in 6,5x55 and had one in 9,3x62. Here's some info of the different models and calibers they are delivered in:

Never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They are not currently imported into the US. CDNN bought some inventory a while back and cleared them out for $499 or about 1/2 current wholesale. They are fine rifles if you can find one for a reasonable price.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

there you are, the Kongsbergs are much similar to Lakelander and Varberger rifles to, if I am correct they are all derived from the same blueprint.

Best regards Chris
