Hand me down
Buddy of mine was asking me about buying a pistol that would be something he could pass down to his son. What do ya'll think would be a good choice? Keep in mind that he's not looking for something over $3000

Maybe a pristine Colt Python?

Or a Freedom Arms Premier in 45 Colt?

Hunting gun, a Freedom Arms in 454 or 475...

Combat gun, a Wilson 1911 in 45 ACP.

A Classic all round handgun, a S&W in 44 Mag, without the lock of course...

The Colt Python is a nice hand gun, [very nice, and very accurate], I have had a few of them...

Sadly, its only fault [IMHO of course], is that it is only a 357 Mag...

Tony, I guess we've both been spoiled by big bores! Last handgun I bought was Safarikid's Jack Huntington's Bisley in 510 JRH.

Thank you for the suggestions. Before posting this I had suggested the Python. When I asked my dad the same question, he said S&W 44 but then said "Don't tell him that. I don't need anyone else looking for S&W pistols that I may want."
