My neighbor showed me a spencer carbine, it loads through the butt,.52 cal I think rimfire. It looks like the one in the movie Unforgiven.It is in excellent condition and works fine.what is it's value and where could one get some ammo for it ?
As a side note, this rifle belonged to a Southern Missouri bushwacker named Sam Heliderbrand. He is a local legendho shot many union soldiers with the rifle after they burned his house. It's all authinicated and ther is a book about him.

The price one could get for that curio is only as good as the marketing.

Not sure what you mean but I called the Mo.historical society , they looked at it and offered 175,000 for it, the guy didn't take it but made a deal to display it at the museum in Jefferson City, in their outlaw section.
