While that is a true comment, it is normal and expected in the world of checkering

While I have long been interested in the Winchester 88, I have never seen one in real life, only in pictures.

All the pictures I have seen show a barrel band near the tip of the fore-end. I don't know if all the factory rifles had that, but it always seemed completely out of place.

This is quite beautiful!

Duane, Yes, it should be but is not from what I have seen, even on good doubles. Brian

Hmmm could be, but I've not seen many high class doubles that did not have point checkering with a border treatment. The borderless idea ....not very much

Contrary to a wide spread falsehood, a border is more of a challenge than borderless.

Some patterns call for boderless...such as ribboned, fluer de lis, etc.. The cradtsman that can excute a well done borfder on fluer de lis patterns....is a real master.

Duane, I didn't know that about the borderless being less challenging than the border style. Thanks. Brian
