Boycott Bow tech
Wanted to buy a General but the dealer here in Bilings is an asshole, so I won't use him. Next closest spot is Cody, Wyoming, but with gas at $3.59 a gallon and over 1.5 hours away each way not worth the extra money. Called the company and told them my beef with the local dealer. Asked if they would contact the Bows in the Boonies dealer and authorize them to sell me a bow. They said they wouldn't do it, so i bought a Mathews Drenalin. Then I wrote a letter to the Presidnet of the company to voice my opinion on how they do business and refusing to sell me a bow. Been 2 weeks and yet to hear from them. So nice that they are making so much money that they can refuse customers. To bad Superior Archery owner is an asshole cause I would have liked to get a bow from them as they are close and knowledgeable.

I have a decent archery shop here and there is another in MD but neither has anything I use and all would be special orders.
They both push speed and only stock toothpick arrows. I looked at a whole wall full of broadheads and the only decent one with a large enough cut was an expandable.
Seems to me most states have a minimum requirement for cutting diameter. I hunt deer, not rabbits!
Even searching catalogs, it is almost impossible to find the arrow size I use.
None of them stock string making materials either, wanting to make huge bucks from pre-made strings.
I would have to order from 5 different places to get just what I need.
I lament the closing of Bowhunters Warehouse.

Your better off with the Mathews. They are great bows. I shoot a Mathews and love it, I have had many different Mathews bows for 9 years now.

I was never a bow tech fan anyways...

twilli, when you sell only through authorized dealers you cannot risk a major defection. Your calling the dealer an asshole doesn't really give BowTech a reason to drop them, especially if they sell a lot of bows! Seems to me that you have cut off your nose to spite your face. Did you consider buying a used bow from EBay or GunBroker? I own a Matthews so I have no special angle here.

Better off with a Mathews anyway. I shot the General along side the Switchback XT in January, the Switchback XT left the shop with me....

Looked at the DXT and The Drenalin as well, even shot both of them, but couldn't find enough diff in the feel of them and the SB XT.

I had a Bowtech patriot before going to a Mathews LX a couple years back. Mathews builds a better bow IMO. Both good bows, but a Mathews is still top of the heap IMO.

In Bow Tech's defense they are obligated to stand behind their contract with a dealer on an exclusive selling area. It cost them a customer and you let them know it. Good for you.

I'm sorry you have a turd to deal with in your area but he will loose his selling rights to the product line if he keeps it up.

Twilli,
I am a full line sporting goods dealer and I can understand your frustration with bowtech. several years ago I tried to add an additional line to my selection and I called the manufacturer that had a lot of publicity going at the time so that I could get that line to sell. after talking to thier sales manager I was told that there was another dealer in the area already and they would not authorize me even if I could move more product than the other guy. So I still only sell PSE and Bear. The other flavor of the month will slide away and be replaced with another one as soon as Bill Jordan starts to use another product. I myself shoot only traditional bows but that is a personal preference of mine as are all bow makes. All of the bows out there can kill effeciently.

So what are you trying to say-that Bowtech is a bad company for protecting their existing dealers?

Twilli-your personal beef with a shop owner does not justify Bowtech changing their obligatory contracts with dealers, in my humble opinion.

Normcry what I am saying is there is no reason that bowtech can't sell me a bow from there dealer in the boonies program. Everybody wins out in the end. I also wrote the president of Bow tech to share my thoughts and have not had a response and it has been over 2 weeks. I will choose to do business in the future with people who want to deal with me. Remember I am paying the $. Ever heard the saying the customer is always right!

twilli, If Bowtech let everyone who asked, use their boonies program then there would be very few people buying from the dealers.
I have to agree with Normcry, they have to protect their dealers.
If you are considering settling for a Mathews you might as well buy a Bowtech on e-bay.

who gives a ---- really? Be a man like Howard Hill and shoot a real longbow. You can't do better than he did, killing elephants and rhino and cape buffalo.

Customer service with the compounds is a joke anyway. Shooting anything with a bow is like stabbing them with a knife.

Stick with the Matthews, you'll not be replacing limbs as much :-)

Also check out www.bowhunterssuperstore.com for accessories, I buy stuff of them all the time and they are great to deal with.

Its a shame that your local dealer was is hard to business with. I have friend , Paul Rena, who owns Bushmaster Archery in Willis Tx and he sells Matthews, Bowtech, High country, and Alpine. I dont know if he can sell and ship a major brand bow, due to the company protection of local dealers, but here is his shop numbers 936-525-9385 or 936-856-7609 anyone else in your area that wants a Bowtech (or other bow brand)could give him a call. Also all of the major bow companys have the same tpye of local dealer protection policy. Thats why you have to go to a pro shop to buy the major brands. I myself shoot a Bowtech Allegiance and love it, fast quiet and very accurate.
