Stuck a hog this weekend
I still cant believe how tough these critters are. I stuck him perfect right behind the shoulder. I was expecting a clean pass through, but my arrow only went half way in. When you have your draw wieght set at 70lbs you figure the arrow will go through just about any thing. Anyways I must have only got the lungs because we had to track this guy over 600 yds. We finally found him in a plum thicket that we literally had to craw on our hands and knees to get through. Let me tell you its a little scary following a wounded 200lb boar on your hands and knees with no gun/bow or anything besides a skinning knife and a head lamp. Well here is some pics of the tough SOB

Congratulations!!! I'd love to try piggy hunting.

Did you weigh him? And what type of arrows did you use? Heads? Arrow weight?

Gold tip Arrows 5575 i think they are 8.2 grams/inch on 29.5 inch arrow

With 100grian Muzzy fixed blade broad head

we didn't weigh him but it was all i could do to drag him out of the thicket

im guessing about 200lbs maybe less but i weight 220lbs and i thought he looks as big as me

Congratulations. I'm going pig hunting in Texas in a couple of weeks. Hope it's a bit warmer than your hunt.

Congratulations on the pig! Hogs' vitals are protected by the shoulder more than a deer. The ideal shot is quartering away and slip it behind the shoulder angling forward. Try a heavier arrow and bust thru the shoulder next time. Easton AXIS is a good "hog" arrow.
Enjoy those backstraps.

From the looks of it, were you hunting in
Lubbock Texas, Alaska? Nice pig. John
