Gerhard.DelportSouth African Fallow Deer Stag...
This past Wednesday was a public holiday in South Africa.
I had set myself the following challenge:
You have from sun up to sun set
Hunt a Fallow Deer Stag with the bow
Hunt an upland game bird with the shotgun
Catch a trout with fly fishing gear.
The rut is just starting in South Africa and early morning had the stag's roaring and chasing does all over the place...
After a long and wet stalk I got within 28 yards from the stag and his does.
After the recovery I took him to the skinning shed.
After the carcass is skinned and in the cold room I grabbed the fly fishing gear
By now its getting late afternoon and I had to get in place for the guinea fowl...
Found them in the corn fields.
Had to push them hard to force them to fly and then had a long distance shot....
What an incredible day...
We call this the McNab challenge.
I am no expert on the quality of the Fallow Deer Stag but he is big enough for me...

AkshooterThis just made my already mondane day worse. I'm really feeling the need to get back to Africa.
The good news is spring bear hunting is just starting and I need to take a black bear with one of my recurves I hope I have your luck when that day arrives.
What is that very nice sidelock you took the Guinea with?
