Split my first arrow today!

The ShottistSplit my first arrow today!
I just started shooting a few weeks ago. It was more of a plan to spend more time with my sons than to be a seriuos archer. I bought a low end bow, but returned it and upgraded to a Bear The Truth. Today, we went to Cabella's for some help in fine tuning and I ended up buying a drop away rest and a small stabilizer. After a few shots of arrows touching each other, I shot one that made a distinctly different sound when it hit. The guy next me said" you just broke your arrow." We walked to the target and saw that the arrow went right up the nock of the previous shot (in the bullseye of course)
Pretty cool

If your hunting dog is fat, then you aren't getting enough exercise.

meteProof ? Photos ? Did you do it or was it a dream ? Or did you have lessons from that Buxom blonde instructor posted here ???

The ShottistIt's obvious by your sarcastic tone in your post that nothing short of a live video feed will dispell your distrust in your fellow man.
Photos can be "Photoshopped". There are all types floating around on the web (even here on AR).

Plinker603Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Seriously I avoid that problem by never aiming at the same bullseye twice. I have 13 arrows and the target bag has 12 bulls. So i shoot at each one then shoot the last arrow at the deer target. I'd have to be WAY off to hit an arrow. I understand it's an accomplishment to split the arrow. I'm just to cheap to ever want to do it, they're $10.00 each! Congratulations on YOUR good shooting, though. Sounds like you're getting along good with your new bow.

aim small, hit small

fredrodcongrats on the shot! I have been shooting for about 9 months off and on but just recently got serious when I knew I had an oppurtunity to hunt.To date I have ruined a dozen fall stalkers so I switched to carbon express terminator hunter 6075's. can't dent them but I have really torn up some fletchings.however I have not Robin Hooded an arrow yet. calgarychef1It's definately a bittersweet feeling. After the first time it's mostly bitter!!

RMillerCongrats.
That is why I shoot at a different target for each arrow.

It can be an expensive habit. I plan to not pick the same aim point when shooting more than 1 arrow at the bullseye.

+1 !
I never shoot at the same target with my compound, at less than 40 yards anyway. At $14 an arrow (Easton Axis ST Obsession's + loads of tax), I am way too cheap to take that kind of chance. From 40 yards in its fairly easy to hit a 3" circle with 6 consecutive shots....at 20 yards I'll hit a one inch circle almost every time...way to hard on arrow life to shoot at other arrows!!
At 25 yards with my recurve I try all the time to get a Robin Hood! Other than a couple broken nocks though, I haven't pulled it off yet.
Cheers,
Canuck

JudgeSharpecongrats!!! I have done it several times but in my case it is shear luck. In fact I broke two new arrows yesterday somehow.
And Mythbusters said it could not be done- Splitting one arroe with another. The idiots.
Mount your arrows and put it on the bragging wall.

Is it safe to let for a 58 year old man run around in the woods unsupervised with a high powered rifle?

calgarychef1Judge what kind of arrows were they? Hollow shafts are easy to split-aluminum or carbon. I've never seen a wooden shaft truly split like the Robin myth. I have seen a piece of feather fletching completely driven through a wood shaft.

JudgeSharpeYou are right, they aere carbon or aluminum hollow shafts, and they telescoped, splitting along one side. Still it is a thrill, like a hole in one in that other game sone people play.
