Drop camp and fully guided bow hunts for elk, deer and bear
Archers,

If you have not visited the Big Game Forum you may not know about this opportunity. I have just started working with a guide in Idaho that has some great hunts on offer at very reasonable prices for what they are.

Drop camp elk bow hunt all through Sept and the peak of the rut. This is 8 days with 6 hunting days. The outfitter provides the camp and transportation to and from the trailhead. You provide food, personal and hunting gear. Prices are $1250-$1500 per person depending on the size of the group. Two to four hunters is ideal. There are lots of elk and the licenses are available over the counter. This hunt can also be fully guided at $4500 1x1 or $4000 2x1 and includes pick up in Spokane, WA. There also is a good chance to take a 140 class or better whitetail for a trophy fee.

This outfitter also offers fully guided black bear hunts through May. These hunts can be oriented to bow or rifle. There will be only 2 shooters in camp at any one time with many active baits to choose from. The gentleman doing the actual baiting is a retired bear specialist from the WA state F&G. He knows his bears. There also is about a 40% chance of taking a color phase bear. These hunuts include everything other than license and tags and go for $2350 for 5 days hunting.

2/18 Just found out today the spring bear hunt is completely full.

If any of this is interesting feel free to contact me anytime.

Mark,

As to the elk hunt:

How does the outfitter transport you? Horseback, ATV?

How far from the trailhead to camp?

Does the outfitter check back daily to haul out meat? Take the meat to a butcher/ packer?

I don't know the rules for Idaho. Does the outfitter have an exclusive for this area, or is it public land where any outfitter can operate and any private citizen can hunt?

The camps are 2-5 miles in from the trailhead. Two camps are accessed with horses and another with ATV. The outfitter will check on you in the middle of your hunt and pack out whatever meat you have to a nearby locker plant. The area is 50 miles north of I-90 in the panhandle and public land therefore there is a possibility of seeing other private citizen hunters.

Personally I think I would hire Travis the outfitter and have him call a bull for me but either the guided or drop camp option is open at this time.
