Larry, a few years ago I fell off a roof building my trophy room, I fell on my hand, basically folding it in half and breaking all the bones on the thumb side. They put 4 rods in it and it healed up well. I tried to go back to shooting/hunting with a compound, as crossbow hunting didn't seem to have the same excitement and challenge, but with all the pressure of drawing a bow held between the thumb and palm, I found that it wasn't going to happen. Looks like I'm stuck with my crossbow!

Hey Jim, ever sat in a hide with a 60" Kudu bull standing 15 yards from you looking into the shooting hole! Most folks die with "buck fever". It is better to keep your eyes closed untill the PH says it is ok to open them and shoot......
