DECBow rack
Well after a 15yr hiatus I decided to get back into bow hunting/shooting. After getting everything I wanted I was looking for a "good" rack to display it on, unfortunately Cabelas was about the only place that carried one. Even though it was solid oak it looked like a 6th grader assembled it so I passed. One of the gun shops I frequent said they had someone make one once but it wouldn't fit the newer parallel limb bows so I decided to make one. Here are the fruits of my labor.
The pictures suck but I'm happy with the results.
The bow is a Mathews Switchback LD. 70lb, 32" draw. It's equipped with a Mathews T-5 quiver, convertable HD II rest, Trophy Ridge guide series lighted pendulum sight and a 1/8" G-5 peep sight. The arrows are Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350 with blazer vanes. I went ahead and bought all of the necessary tooling to cut and fletch my own arrows.
It's simply amazing how far they've come in 15yrs. The last bow I had I shot natural with no sights, aluminum shafts and finger tabs and it would always slap my forearm. This is a breeze to shoot and I'm just as accurate with it out to 30yds as I am offhand with a pistol. 25yrs ago there was no matching anything, proper draw length was barely considered, now they've refined it to a science. The newer bows are deadly accurate, if you do your part.

Down southVery nice. That sure beats keeping it in a hard case stuck in a closet or under the bed.

We Americans were tired of being thought of as dumb, by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November 2008 and removed all doubt.....let's not do it again in 2012 please.

DECThanks fellas. I kinda built it around my bow and what I wanted to store not realizing just how big it was going to be. It's a piece of furniture! It's 41" long, 31 1/2" wide and 7 1/2" deep. At $25 a plank I wanted to utliize as much of the wood as possible so I extended the sides down to add the coat rack. I also extended the center section and made a large locking compartment that I can actually fit my hand into. It's also made to hold 24 arrows where most of them I'd seen only held 12.

Sewer_RatI like that.... are the "arrow holders" drilled, or is pivoted?? I mean can you only use field points on those arrows for storage or can you slip a broadhead arrow through the holes?
I need to brainstorm for a rack for my longbows... or get rid of some of them LOL

Plinker603Good job. You're right the pictures don't do it justice. Couldn't tell much from the first picture but the second with the bow and the arrows displayed, that really shows it off. Looks beautiful AND functional.

The holes are drilled a little oversize. Originally I had thought about making the top bar two piece so I could leave broadheads on them but I've got enough arrows I didn't need to. These are basically just spare arrows I guess.
