Last day blues
Well, today was the last day I'll hunt this deer season.

I only got one doe all season, and I hunted hard!

But it was still a good season. Many enjoyable hours out in the woods. No lost or wounded animals.

I hope you all had one as nice as mine.

Sounds like a successful season in my book. Here's to many more!

Chef,

Bow season here in Ohio is Oct 5 to Jan 31.

It makes up for the 5 to 7 day gun season, and 3 day black powder!

In the urban areas you can take 5 does. In addition you can take at least one buck statewide, varying a bit by three major regions from 1B 0D, 1B 1D, 1B 2D.

I ended mine yesterday as well. I ended up w/ ten (2 bow and 8 rifle & Mler) so it has been a great season to say the least.

Saturday evening I hunted in the pouring rain and w/ about 15 min of shooting light left a nice buck showed. You would know he'd show up down wind. He came into an opening about 30 yards out and he smelled me. He spun around and actually came closer but, stayed behind the brush and disappeared like a ghost. I knew he was in there because we had seen his sign all year. At least I finally got to see him.

A friend and I went back in yesterday evening to the same area. He had a spike come in and stuck him at about 25 yards. That little booger made it 250 yards or so on a sparse blood trail. We found him at around 7:30 last night. A good way to end the season.

Sad thing is that 40 acres that we were hunting on is going to become sub-divided before the next season is here. We had six good Bow seasons there and probably took 20+ deer. At least we ended it on a blood trail.

Looks like we've got about 8 months to prepare for next time.

Have a Good One,

I have like one weekend left coming up like last weekend of Feb, first wknd of March. Archery or Shotty for pigs. Too bad its gonna be blazin hot down here by then, makes for some hard hunting. That's ok, the management area is special opportunity permit only except for small game, which is first come first serve. Minimal hunting pressure.

Don, I took a friend out the last day. He never gets a deer so I put him on my neighbors deck with his revolver. I went in my treestand. I told him to sit tight. He seen deer and tried to sneak across the yard to the woods but spooked them. There is a motion sensor light on the end of the house and I told him if it comes on, a deer might be coming down the drive. Well, it came on and instead of waiting, he peeked around the corner. There was nothing there. Then he heard someone whisper in his ear "Did you see that?" He thought it was me and turned around. There was nobody there! When I came out of the woods, he had the funniest look on his face. I had to laugh at him, he got spooked!
I know, hunting from a deck, but I felt sorry for him and we tried to do everything to get him a shot. The log house is back in the woods and is no different then hunting from a raised blind or one of those pop up blinds.
