raingear, what is the best and where
HI,

I am looking for raingear, that is quiet,I just want something that is able to keep me dry and is quiet, no insulation. I would like to find it in predator but have had no luck. What is the best out there and where can I find it. Thanks,Kev

I have Stearns Mad Dog bibs pants and coat [Frown] . Also Pella parka and pants [Smile] . If its raining and I am going to be out for an extended time I wear the Pella. Mad Dog should say water resistant not water proof [Roll Eyes] . For late season I got Cabellas Dry Plus insulated parka with scentlok. I have sat in heavy wet snow, not rain, and stayed dry but I bet it would work in rain too. If I could start over I would get the Dry Plus with scentlok uninsulated for early season too. I really like it, quiet, dry, plus the the scentlok at the same cost [Big Grin] .

My suggestion is to buy the Predator in the Cotton and use a water repellant spray to seal coat the camo.
I can't think of the manufactur I have used but it makes the cloth repellant.

The cabelas top of the line rain gear is great and quiet also I swear by it.

I second Frank on the Cabelas rain gear. I used it on a Newfoundland moose hunt last October. It rained everyday, I never got wet except from swept from humping up and down mountains. Great rain gear. Everyone on the trip used it and loved it.

When it comes to raingear I have only one thing to say!! Swedish Army M90 raingear!!! This is the best of all raingear, eventhough it has no anti-smell, buck-scented, camoclad areas, its reasonably quiet, light, cheap ($100), and can take an enormous amount of abuse before it rips, plus it keeps you dry!! get it!!

I have been using an outfit from Cabelas for about 5 years now with much satisfaction. It is in the saddlecloth material with scentlok. The outfit is uninsulated and warm when the tempeture is above 35F. The material is quiet, not near like wool when walking and twigs slap against it though, as long as the temp is above 25F. Below that the material gets noisey and stiffer, or stiffer and noisey. However, on a ten degree day with a 5-10mph wind I walked up and shot a PA whitetail with a flintlock at a distance of 11 yards, the deer never left the nest. I have recently purchased a pair of the newer micro fleece pants from cabelas and they seem quieter in the cold weather. It is admittedly a tough and expensive choice, good luck.
