I never tried a pendulum. I tend to believe in the KISS principle. Keep it simple, stupid!

I use the impact archery pendulum, and I can hit soda cans 20-30 yd from the tree, 20ft up. the pin is also set up to be dead on @ 20yd from the ground.

Depends on the speed of the bow.

Pendelums and real fast bows don't mix. Pedelums are designed for bows that have alot of arc in arrow flight and for those bows they are great.

I have one on a bow that shoots 240 fps w/ a heavy carbon and it works great out of a tree.

On my Faster bows 275-300 fps w/ the light carbons, I'm pretty much on from 15-30 yards w/ one pin and from 0-30 out of a tree I'm w/in a couple of inches of zero.

W/ my slower bows in the past I've seen as much as a 6" differnce in zero when fired out of a tree. Those bows did well w/ a pendelum.

Yea I was. Its wierd, the site shows my name in the list of logged on users, but does not show me as logged on at the top of the list of forums, no matter how many times I log in. Who knows. Anyhow, with a real fast bow, you might not need a pendulum, since the bow shoots so flat, not much of a difference shooting 20yd on land, and 20yd 20ft up in a tree. Practice would show you if you had to hold low when shooting from a tree with a single pin set up for 20yd on the ground. Probably not much at all.

Had both, go with fixed.

A pendulum can be a real disaster if you are bowhunting an area that is significantly lower on one side than the other. IE. A creek crossing or a ridge side bench.

IMHO, You are way better off to stick with fixed sights and range some landmarks at the beginning of the hunt. Practice shooting from an elevated stand you'll get the hang of it.

I've used a pendulum for years. Works great at any height above 12' up to 30' and out to 30yrds.
IMHO it is one less thing you have to think about when that boonie walks in.
