Damn! Early bow starts in a month here! I'd better get my butt in gear....cameras to hang, stands to move, practice, practice, practice.

I just sighted in my crossbow today. Now I just need to get some broadheads and I'll be set.

I'm going the other way this year. I went to a crossbow 5-6 years ago when I shattered my bow hand. This winter I started shooting my compound and now can handle 70 lbs. I'm looking to upgrade to a Mathews No-Cam HTR. I like the challenge and excitement of hunting with a drawn bow.

Yes, it starts in Mn in about five weeks. I won't put up stands till late Sept, when it cools a bit. And I won't hunt till late Oct. I have kinda lost interest in non rut, warm weather hunting.
But I am shooting quite a bit to stay sharp.

It's a Hoyt carbon element G3...produced in late 2013 I believe. I keep them for a few years and then upgrade. After this season I'll buy the Hoyt carbon defiant and have it ready to go for next fall.

Try one before you buy it...carbon bows have a different feel and occasionally some guys don't like it. But if it feels right in your hand they are the sweetest bows I've ever shot. You could get a Mathews but then you'd have to grow a mullet and put a monster energy drink sticker in the back window of your pickup.

Yes, never shot a carbon bow....have to give one a try. But I don't mind weight in a bow....makes them easier to shoot, and we mostly treestand hunt out here, so weight is not an issue.

I'll be hanging stands most of the day this Saturday. The cameras have been out since last season and it's definitely been worth it. We're seeing some nice bucks really hitting mineral right now.

Nice! I still remember Hoyt's Defiant (or maybe Defiance) from 10-15 years ago. I believe it was Hoyt's first solocam bow, with the hot Redline cam. Boy, things sure have changed.
