PNWGatorCape Buffalo
Any advice for a first time cape buffalo bowhunter? Have my hunt booked with ESP Safaris in the Limpopo Province of RSA for the third week of June. Any and all advice is welcome. Want to be as prepared as I possibly can prior to this adventure.
Take care,
Chris

df06I arrowed one in July this year.
I shot 72# bow.
Grizzly stix 250 with Ed Ashby 315 grain broadheads
Total arrow weight 980 grains.
I had four arrow in his chest, but a little further back and a little higher than a perfect shot.
They were in the lungs/liver.
I was disappointed in penetration. I got maybe 18-20" 0f penetration.
I am not sure of it was poundage of bow or something else.
I think had I shot him 4-6" further forward and a little lower, it would have been a quicker kill.
Good luck, its a blast.

sforbsyVery interesting df106, l am keen to simulate your arrow combination on Water Buffalo here. I will certainly look to buy them broadheads your using.
