A few days ago we had friends over in our workshop.

I know they all love steak.

In the morning I got a bunch of rib eye steaks.

Got some BBQ sauce, bottles, there were 3 different makes.

Chopped and crushed a lot of garlic.

Ground black pepper into fine powder.

Got a couple of bottles of Italian salad dressing, and some oil.

Mixed the lot, and put all the steaks in.

Making sure all are in the sauce.

When evening came, we fired our BEEFEATER BBQ, and let everyone cook his to his liking.

We had rice, baked potatoes and salad.

It was so good they were asking about the marinade!

I told them I just made as I thought. clap

sounds good!!… mine is equal parts Catalina dressing and Italian dressing... when I buy bulk pack steaks, pork, shrimp or chicken, I repack into 2-serving size freezer bags and add the Catalina /Italian mixture to the package.. coat the meat well, it keeps it from freezerburn and marinates till it freezes, and marinates more while it thaws.. I'll squeeze a lime in the packace too..

I've used Italian dressing for an overnight marinade for 1 1/2" thick butterfly pork chops.


Never mistake motion for action.

Damn, Saeed, that concoction of yours sounds out of this world! And on ribeyes! tu2 You're the man of all kinds of concoctions-BBQ sauces, bug repellent. . . . .! rotflmo Was Walter there to enjoy your BBQ 'experiment'? Big Grin I didn't see any reference to Tabasco sauce! I thought that no meal of yours was complete without it! rotflmo rotflmo jumping rotflmo

Good ribeyes don't need marinade. Garlic rub and salt usually suffice.

Tabasco and lime or lemon juice is added later if you so choose.

A few friends are here today to enjoy this very same dinner!

I personally add lots of Tabasco, lime juice and a bit of soya sauce.

I baked potatoes make the meal complete.

I used to make BBQ sauce totally from scratch. And it was good. But it was a whole lot of trouble and a much easier way is to get some "Mr. Stubbs", my favorite starting point, or your choice, and then embellish it. Add some spices and especially the vinegar from a can of jalepenos. That both thins it and spices it up.
