Didn't want Todd to get all the attention. rotflmo

Funny part is this Rubicon is very rare. It's a 3.0 diesel in "Bikini Pearl". The plant got shut down by COVID right after we took delivery. The Bikini color has been discontinued so the 2020 year is it. There are less than 10 Bikini Pearl diesel Rubicons.

Nice. How do you like the diesel?

I owned a Wrangler years ago and would have loved to have had the additional room. Roll Eyes

442 ft.lbs. of torque with an 8 speed German automatic. It's always in the power band and getting 24-28 MPG.

Joyce loves this rig.

I really like that color.

My wife’s is a 17 Rubicon (not diesel). I never really wanted a Jeep but had always wanted one. My biggest surprise is how well they do in the hills (I didn’t think there would be a big difference from my truck).

Your diesel option sounds very interesting, congrats!

The last Jeep we owned was an 1976 AMC Jeep CJ-5 with a 304 V-8. We eventually built it up for racing offload. Very spartan rig like all Jeeps back in the day.

These JL's are really nice daily drivers with all the bells and whistles of any modern new car yet still, in the Rubicon package, still has all the off road ability.

We also decided to go with the JL because we flat tow it behind our truck camper and it's well outfitted for that.

One disappointment is that the tow rating didn't change with the diesel even with all the torque. It's still rated for 3,500 pounds.

Waited over three years for FCA to finally put the 3.0 in the Wrangler. Not that I would want it but they also have a hybrid coming out this year and rumors of a 392 Hemi.

We put an LOD rear bumper on as well. We waited for the diesel that way when we tow with the truck camper (Cummins dually) we have one type of fuel and can put a pair of Gerry cans on the LOD.

Switched out the stock front bumper to a tow ready Rockhard Aluminum mid-width. Put a 10,000 pound Smittybuilt winch on.

Pretty set now!!

Normally I am not a fan of teal/aqua on a vehicle but that color looks sharp. Install some skinny studded tires and it should go anywhere in the winter.

Well done.

I'm with you on the Teal statement but this color is very schizophrenic. It's light blue in the bright sun and tealish green in the shade.

I think the high concentration of metal flake in the paint causes that.

I like it. Joyce loves it.

How about an update on the ride. Any issues? Now that the newness wore off are you and Joyce still happy with it?
I am giving some serious thought towards ordering a 2 door (JL) Rubicon with the 3.6 V6 and 8 speed.

Sorry, I did not see this post till now.

We love this rig more than ever.As you probably found out you can not get the 3.0 diesel in the two door. If you want a two door I wouldn't wait. There's a chance FCA will discontinue the two door. The vast majority of sales are for the "unlimited" which is the four door.

The Pentstar 3.6 is tried and true but if you add heavy aftermarket add on items, especially 37" and larger tires they become anemic quickly. They also suffer at altitude.

I had the worst (shouldn't have lived) crash of my life in our '76 CJ-5 with the short 83" wheelbase. Not sure if you have experience with the short wheel base two door or not but on anything slippery that rear end will come around way before you realize it.

The modern JL's are very, very comfortable and extremely trail ready even in the stock Rubicon package.

Any other questions fire away.

No kidding! I once did a 360 in the middle of the road when I barely touched the brakes. Fortunately in my case I ended up pointing forward again and just kept driving. Big Grin
