Newly acquired! Smiler

Load development should prove to be interesting. Anyone else here own one of these?

I've got one. Haven't started loading for it yet as I have a hefty supply of 286gr Norma factory fodder. My thought was to commence loading once I had shot it up.

I've enjoyed shooting the rifle, particularly at water jugs. No blood on it yet, but if I can get some pigs baited up I plan on changing that.

Photos of mine -

In a No.1 rifle, this cartridge should be able to be loaded to pressures higher than what factory ammo is loaded to. I've seen various factory loads with 286gr bullets at about 2350 fps muzzle velocity.

Loading 285gr PRVI and 286gr Nosler Partition bullets. Able to safely exceed (my rifle only!) the maximum charge of H4350 listed in Barnes Reloading Manual #3 for their 286gr bullet by a considerable amount.

MV's at near maximum pressures -

285gr PRVI: 2450 fps

286gr NP: 2400 fps

My rifle seems to prefer 285gr PRVI bullets - getting 3/4" groups at 100 yards. Cool
