Saw/handled the new #1 .338 Federal at SHOT. Previous info had indicated it would be a 1-A but the one on display was in the 1-AB configuration, sans sights. Even though the sights would likely never be used, I think they just look better with the irons. Short tubes just look better to my eyes with sights. Perhaps this was just a prototype and the final product may sport sights, I hope so anyway because I want one. Unfortunately they did not have the 9.3x74 or the .450/.400 to show, which I was looking forward to seeing.

Ha, the guy told me wrong that there was not one there, I looked......missed it. A wholesaler has the #1 as the 1A model in 338 Federal and I thought myself of getting one, as if you ever 'needed' more you could ream it to 338-06! I was expecting a 1a with sights, as that is what I would want.
