I have a CZ550 magnum in 500 Jeffery I would like to install a red dot on the front ring. Only problem is all the red dots I have are for picatinny rail. Shy of getting a full length rail and chopping off enough to mount on the front ring are there any other options?

How long does it need to be; realize that a Picatinny rail is nothing but a rip off of a Weaver scope base. All they did was add specifications to the notches.
However, if a standard extended base is not long enough then yes, you make a custom one.
