TimberlineDavidson 1886 Deluxe Take-Down Rifle
Does anyone have any shooting and/or hunting experience with one of these?
From what I gather from Davidson’s website, Davidson’s had approximately 1000 of these Winchester 1886 Deluxe Take-Down 45-70 Rifles made in 2007 – 500 with a 26-inch octagon barrel and 500 with a 26-inch half octagon/half round barrel.
Yes, they’re classic lever rifles, but how do they shoot?
Does the take-down feature detract in any way from the rifle’s accuracy potential?
These are not small or light lever-action rifles. Does the size and over-9-pound weight become burdensome in the field?
Any input at all on this limited edition rifle would be much appreciated.

This is mine. It shoots great. I do not use the take down function but I will hunt with it. It weighs about 9 lbs. A little heavy but it packs good on a mule. I love mine!

Doug TurnbullI have found that they are very good. The problem is the rebounding hammer and the multy piece fireing pin. I have had a number of miss fires from them. Also theey have a tang safty that many don't like. Other than that they are the same as the originals and make a great platform for 475 Turnbull, 50 alaskan or 50-110. The small fireing pin hole makes them really nice for those that want to load them up a bit.
