It's tough for me to want to reload for my .308 Winchester Browning BLR when it shoots this well with factory ammo  . Trigger pull is heavy but if you practice by dry firing and know what it feels like, they are accurate! I have a stainless 22/250, a takedown .30-06 and this BLR and they are great rifles. Just don't expect to feel your Jewell or Timney when you first get behind one.One of these days I'll drive to the Northeast again and bring all 3 rifles to have the triggers worked on by the guru (Neil Jones?) 3 shot above the scope, SD card for size reference. Gloss 2.5-8x36 Leupold on it now   My 2019 season whitetail taken with the gun. I had a 6x36 Leupold fx-ii on it then...it was a light/quick handling combo. Worked well even at over 200 yards. I wasn't going to respond until I had a little more time with my BLR 7mm-08 but, I have found that the same load I use for my 7mm-08 Tikka T3 also works pretty well in my BLR (just under 2 moa @ 100 yds) with 140 Accubonds over Varget. I think I can do a bit better and may try 140 gr Nosler BT's with Ramshot Big Game. Also, Varget and 140 gr. Sierra Pro Hunters did pretty well too. 7MM-08 is a fun caliber to reload for. Start young, hunt hard, and enjoy God's bounty. | |||

4sixteen- I love the .358's, they are pretty difficult to find! Have you recovered any of those 225gr TSX's from any game? 7mm-08 is a great caliber Biggs, one of my favorites. I've been able to work up a load with a ballistic tip and substitute in an Accubond and not have to change anything else and have them shoot the same poi. You'll have to let us know what you find. I'll post results of my Takedown .30-06 and the stainless .22/250 when I get out to the range next. Haven't yet tried 358 Win 225gr TSX load on game should perform well. Good results on Elk with 250gr SAF and the old 250gr X long discontinued. Also load 310gr Woodleigh at 2100 fps mv good results on Moose.  Not a recommendation however 325 WSM BLR mag fits my 450 Marlin BLR. Allows for increased OAL. Hornady 500gr fit into mag and feed ok. 500gr at 1900~2000 fps mv should be safely achievable. Prefer 500gr 450 Marlin hunting load in big Bear territory. Excellent results on Moose with 458 WM 500gr lower speed load. Should be same ballistic performance from my lightweight quick handling quick repeat fire BLR.  | |||

I have three of the older steel frame BLR’s. One in 358 that shoots great, MOA or very close, another I rebarrelled to 250 Savage for a youth rifle for my kids that shoots easy sub MOA, and the last one is a complete barreled action in 308 that I haven’t decided what to do with yet. Possibly a 6mm of some sort for a coyote/deer walking rifle. Shoot straight, shoot often. Matt | |||

I had several BLRS that shot around an inch with most loads..good guns, great saddle guns..all mine were in .308 WCF..One of the calibers that tend to be accurate and have proven that on the benchrest. The came in 22-250 and 257 Roberts at one time, those fetch a premy these days.. This accurate  Mike  What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not. 10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact. 11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores. 12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances. | |||

416, Id say off hand those are more than decent groups, any gun shooting an inch or better is a super accurate shooter anywhere in the world except on benchrest compition..I have bought and sold a lot of guns to get a set of hunting rifles that will shoot under and inch for 3 shots and most will shoot 5 some 10..I still have a couple, but usally sell them to buy a new rope horse!! and horses eat more and die sometimes, but what the hay.. I have owned more than a few BLRs and they all were accurate in the inch to 2 inch class, more than enough for big game hunting..If I saw one I liked at the right price Id own another..Ive always wanted one in the 22-250, they are hard to come by but they crop up from time to time..Im looking.
