Thought I would post this here,

My club has 2 Marlin 2000L target rifles, both have

extraction problems
light hits on the primers
Sloppy safeties

These 2 rifles have a magazine housing with a fake magazine which acts as a single shot follower.
Didn't know that until I disassembled the rifle. All that stuff is under the palm rail.

I wound up doing the following.

Ordered 2 aftermarket extractors (probably won't use them) (and 2 10 rnd mags (more later)

Lapping the chamber with a brass brush
thorough cleaning of the bolt
Bend the safety lever to get it to engage the receiver notches (what a pos)
bent the ejector on one

one has a weak mag release so the follower drops. We wired the release tight

They now feed RN fine. Will not feed HP or flat tip at all.

I did order 2 10 rnd mags but the palm rail will have to be modded to get at the magazine.

How do they shoot?

They shoot very good. We have them in a 50 ft indoor range so they better shoot good.

For casual or new shooters they are too heavy.

Saga continues.

Rifles worked with lubed premium ammo for a while. If I put the least bit of tension on the extractor they will extract. I got 2 new ones from Numrich today (also got 2 mags ) . I'll install the extractor tonight.

PS. mags won't work on these rifles w/o moding the stock, palmrail etc.. (may not be doing that)
